Sure, slackware “just works” if you remember to partition your drive, format the partitions, install, play with rc.modules, rc.init1.conf, etc etc, xorg.conf, get frustrated, compile kernel, init 6, run alsaconf, alsactl -t, startx, discover something missing, download source compile, compile fails, read logfile, discover missing headers, hunt for a header file, discover cause is really a missing lib, find lib, compile lib, …, done, have a beer and chant “it just works!”
