I have an 820 not a 620 but the hardware is similar between the two. While I do use bluetooth in Ubuntu on my laptop, I only use it for a mouse. You can check out my writeup for the laptop with Ubuntu. http://www.ournuthut.net/?p=4

E@zyVG, I have had no problems getting the hardware to work properly in Linux. Being a Intel Centrino notebook, both graphics cards (Intel or nVidia) and wireless internet works out of the box. I haven't tried Bluetooth yet, but I'm sure it will work too as Fedora reported it detected it.

Other than that, sound and microphone support works without problems. In Ubuntu, the media keys (volume up/down/mute) and the touch pad scroll area work out of the box by default, something even Windows XP requires drivers to achieve.

Looking cool. I am also in search of a new note ... still have to make my choice between HP, Lenovo and Dell. How is hardware support from Dell for Linux, as HP has excellent one, and Lenovo is catching up.

[...] In Ubuntu, the media keys on my laptops (Dell Inspiron 6000, Latitude D620, and Inspiron 8600) work as expected. In Fedora Core, they don’t do anything. You need to configure this manually in System > Preferences > Keyboard Shortcuts. [...]

[...] The installation went fairly smoothly–on the second try. When I partitioned the 80 GB hard drive of my new computer last week, I intentionally left 6 GB unused because I knew I would eventually like to try installing other flavors of Linux than Ubuntu. [...]

Daniel, the weight is approximately 2.2 kg, but I need to put it on a scale to be sure. It definitely feels more lightweight than my Inspiron 6000 (3 kg).

Battery lifetime is enough for me, about 3-4 hours depending on what I do. Most of the time I spend in Visual Studio 2005 _writing_ code, which is not that demanding. Compiling obviously reduces the battery life! :) My daily commuting takes between 1 and 1½ hours, so it's perfectly sufficient for me. I think you could exceed five hours if you used it with the lowest screen brightness setting, but then I'd rather carry the extra weight of a secondary battery. I went for the 6-cell battery because the 9-cell made the computer more bulky (see http://www.pccentral.jp/blog/images/latituded620.jpg).
