I fixed the instructions under the mistaken impression that compiz was installed by default. It was provided in the media but not installed by default in that release however. Well its a test release so release notes do have some bugs. I requested this at https://www.redhat.com/archives/fedora-devel-list/2006-October/msg00041.html and the final release of FC6 will have compiz installed but disabled by default. This was my goofup.
