- Log in to the system that hosts your Microsoft SharePoint SQL database.
- From the Start menu, select Run.
- Type the following command:
- Click OK.
- Log in to your Microsoft SharePoint database.
- Click Connect.
- From the Object Explorer for your SharePoint database, click Databases > WSS_Logging > Views.

Overview. Access 2010 and Access Services provide a platform for you to create databases that you can use on a SharePoint site. You design and publish a web database by using Access 2010 and Access Services, and people who have accounts on the SharePoint site use the web database in a web browser.
Create a blank database
- On the File tab, click New, and then click Blank Database.
- Type a file name in the File Name box.
- Click Create.
- Begin typing to add data, or you can paste data from another source, as described in the section Copy data from another source into an Access table.
SharePoint lists are incredibly useful. You can quickly create what amount to database tables and start working with them in moments. I love them because: Unlike a “real” database like we’d create in SQL Server/SQL Azure or MySQL, we don’t need any special privileges from a DBA to provision a new schema or anything.
Each list is independent and SharePoint lists were never intended to be used as a relational database. While SharePoint does have a field type called Lookup, it does not serve as a true relational database.
Usability: By creating a folder structure in SharePoint, that structure may be known only to the person or team who created it. Also, with too many subfolders there is always the possibility of hidden or lost documents. This can make it impossible or too time consuming for users to find a particular document.

Does Office 365 have a database?

Access opens the Get External Data – SharePoint Site dialog box. In the wizard, specify the address of the source site. All documents and content that users upload into SharePoint are stored in the databases hosted in the SQL Server instance connected to the farm. When you create a SharePoint web application, a SQL Server database (referred to in SharePoint terminology as a content database) is connected to that web application.
MS SQL Server
SharePoint uses MS SQL Server as a database management system for its operation but SharePoint is not designed to perform the functions of a real database. What is a SharePoint content database? A content database is a database to store SharePoint data for one or more site collections.
Connect to a database by saving the user name and password
- Click Data Sources in the Navigation Pane.
- On the Data Sources tab in the ribbon, in the New group, click Database Connection.
- In the Data Source Properties dialog box, on the Source tab, click Configure Database Connection.
Can Microsoft lists be used as a database?
In fact, Microsoft have described their new lists app as an “evolution of SharePoint Lists”. If you don’t know what a SharePoint list is, it is essentially a database that you can use inside of SharePoint, where the data is displayed in rows and columns like an excel spreadsheet.
SharePoint Online uses multiple SQL databases (called content databases), to store customers’ data (sites content, list item, files and document, in addition to metadata) on Azure Storage in a safe and encrypted manner.
Although SharePoint Online can store 30 million documents per library, for optimum performance we recommend syncing no more than 300,000 files across all document libraries.

How much storage do I need for my database?
