Creating breakout rooms
- Start an instant or scheduled meeting.
- Click Breakout Rooms .
- Select the number of rooms you would like to create, and how you would like to assign your participants to those rooms: Automatically: Let Zoom split your participants up evenly into each of the rooms.
- Click Create Breakout Rooms.

Can you create breakout rooms in free zoom?
Each participant has full video, audio, and screen share capabilities. Anyone with a Zoom account can participate in breakout rooms for free by signing in to their profile and enabling the feature. However, to create a breakout room, you must first enable this setting on Zoom.
Go to your profile, click on meeting settings, and under “In Meeting (Advanced)” section, Enable Breakout room. 1. Open scheduled meeting or host a new meeting session using Zoom. Locate the Breakout Rooms button in the Zoom toolbar and click on it to start with creating Breakout rooms.
Does breakout room chat go to everyone?
Chat. Within each breakout room, attendees can chat with everyone in the breakout room or a specific person in the breakout room even if participant chat is disabled in the main room. Messages sent in chat from a breakout room are only viewable to those in that breakout room.
Why can’t I pre-assign breakout rooms in zoom?

How do I enable breakout rooms in Zoom Mobile?

Can you pre-assign breakout rooms in an already scheduled meeting?
As a meeting host, you can create Breakout Rooms during the Zoom meeting. Zoom also allows you to pre-assign participants to Breakout Rooms before the start of your meeting.

What is a breakout room?
Breakout rooms are sessions that are split off from the main Zoom meeting. They allow the participants to meet in smaller groups, and are completely isolated in terms of audio and video from the main session. Breakout rooms can be used for collaboration and discussion of the meeting.
If you don’t see it, click the dark gray puzzle piece and select “Google Meet Breakout Rooms” to open the Extension program. In the new window, you’ll be able to create, monitor, and navigate through each of the breakout rooms.
