When you use an Office program to check out a file from a Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 site or Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 site, the file is stored by default on your hard disk in a drafts folder that is in your My Documents folder.

All folders, files & documents, plus all metadata are encrypted & stored in a SharePoint-style content database (on Azure SQL storage) in the appropriate data center. And you get a copy of the synced files on your file system.
Which OneDrive app? When you sync your OneDrive library, your files are placed in a folder named “OneDrive @CompanyName” if the library is hosted on SharePoint in Microsoft 365, and “OneDrive” if the library is hosted on a corporate SharePoint server.
Alternatively, you could look in the recycle bin on the SharePoint site. For windows 7 (IE9) and Moss2010 and office 2012 they are also in your temporary internet files (C:Users%userprofile%AppDataLocalMicrosoftWindowsTemporary Internet Files).
Open an Office file
- Click the File tab.
- Click Open.
- Under Favorites, click SharePoint Sites.
- Click the SharePoint site where your file is located, and then click Open.
- Click the name of the library that contains the file, such as Shared Documents, and then click Open.
Hi Kristi, Generally, syncing SharePoint files or OneDrive files will take up the hard disk space/memory on your computer. The default location for the sync folder is C:UsersYourUserNameYou can choose a different location based on your need, just click Change location when you set up the synchronization.

- Click “connect to a web site that you can use to store your documents and pictures”

Fix the Office Document Cache
When cache file corruption happens, your file will seem to be stuck in the Office Upload Center.Deleting the cache isn’t dangerous, and it might clear up the syncing problem. After you delete the cache, sync may happen automatically, or you may need to sync manually.

Where is the Office Document cache?
To get to the cached Office files, open the Office Upload Center and select All Cached Files from the drop-down list next to the Refresh button. It will show a list of files in your cache which you can double click to open, even while offline.

Files that you upload to a channel are stored in your team’s SharePoint folder. These files are available in the Files tab at the top of each channel.

OneDrive is essentially an online folder system for file storage, but SharePoint includes many other features such as collaboration, CMS, and dashboards. Microsoft 365 now includes SharePoint features in its cloud platform, but you can also purchase SharePoint by itself as an on-premise solution.
Create a library in SharePoint in Microsoft 365 or SharePoint Server 2019. Go to the team site where you want to create a new document library. On the menu bar, select New, and then select Document library.
Go to the Home Page tab and enter the URL for the SharePoint site that you want to associate with the folder. Select the Show Home Page By Default For This Folder checkbox and click OK. Outlook should now display the SharePoint site whenever you select the folder (Figure E).
In SharePoint in Microsoft 365, open the document library with the file or folders you want to move or copy. Select the View menu and then select View in File Explorer.
