Send a gift
- Open the App Store app, iTunes Store app, or Books app.
- Tap the item that you want to give.
- Tap the Gift button: In the App Store, tap the Share button , then tap Gift App .
- Follow the onscreen instructions to personalize and send your gift.
- After the gift is sent, the recipient gets an email.

Users can set up an iCloud Family account to share in-app purchases with up to 6 people. The “Share with Family” option can be found in the Settings app on iOS or macOS, or on icloud.com.
When you set up Family Sharing, you and up to five family members can share iTunes Store, App Store, Apple Books, and Apple TV purchases.
Download shared purchases from the App Store
- Open the App Store .

Today, Apple announced that subscriptions and one-time in-app purchases can now be shared among families. If you buy a consumable item, like coins in a game, you’ll still be the only one who can use them, but if you unlock an ad-free or pro version of an app it could be eligible for the new Family Sharing program.
Can you use gift cards for in-app purchases?
What you can buy with these gift cards. When you redeem an Apple Gift Card or App Store & iTunes gift card, you can make purchases with your Apple ID balance. Those purchases can include apps, games, subscriptions like Apple Music or iCloud+, and more.
Use your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to turn on purchase sharing
- If you haven’t set up Family Sharing yet, set up Family Sharing.
- Open the Settings app.
- Tap your name, then tap Family Sharing.
- Tap Purchase Sharing.
- Tap Continue and follow the onscreen instructions.
Choose Apple Menu > System Preferences, then click Family Sharing. Click Purchase Sharing. Confirm or change the Apple ID that you want to use to share content. Make sure that Share My Purchases is selected.
Can you send an app to another iPhone?
Using an iCloud backup, you can transfer all of your apps to a new iPhone at once, without paying anything extra. You can also use the App Store to pick and choose which apps you’d like to download on your new iPhone.
What is purchase sharing Apple?
When you set up purchase sharing, everyone in the group gets immediate access to the songs, albums, movies, TV shows, books, and apps purchased by family members who choose to share them. New purchases appear in the Purchased tab in Apple Books, the App Store, or iTunes for each family member.

How do I add a gift card to my Apple wallet?

- Select upload from the bottom of the app.
- Search for the retailer you want to add.

Can you use a prepaid gift card on Apple pay?
You can’t use credit cards with Apple Cash, and you might not be able to use some prepaid cards. You can’t add money from a gift card, even if it’s already in Wallet.Apple Card is available only in the United States.
With Family Sharing, up to six family members can download each other’s iTunes Store purchases to their own computers and devices. Family members can also hide their purchases so others can’t download them. To use Family Sharing, you need an Apple ID, and you must be invited to join a family group.
Can I add my own payment method with Family Sharing?
As stated above, when you are part of a Family Sharing group, the only payment methods that will be used before the group organizer’s credit card are gift cards, prepaid cards and store credit. Your own personal credit card will not be considered.
Why can’t I gift an app on my iPhone?
“If you’re using Family Sharing and Ask To Buy is turned on for your account, you can’t purchase gifts.” Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch — If you’re not part of a Family Sharing and Ask to Buy isn’t on, restart your iPad. Once it’s returned to the Home screen, see if you’re able to gift an app.
Can you gift an app with iTunes credit?
“When you purchase an iTunes Gift, you must have a valid credit card on file; you can’t purchase an iTunes Gift with store credit. If you’re using Family Sharing and Ask To Buy is enabled on your account, you can’t purchase gifts. You can’t redeem purchased gifts outside of the country of purchase.
