My Sites (SharePoint Online) is included with Office 365. It allows students, faculty, and staff to create collaborative websites that can be used to share files, assign tasks, start blogs, and build workflows.

To view the SharePoint in Microsoft 365 start page in Microsoft 365:
- Sign in to Microsoft 365. For help, see Where to sign in to Microsoft 365.
- In the top left corner of the page, select the app launcher icon. , and then select SharePoint. Can’t find the app you’re looking for?
SharePoint is an industry-leading document management and collaboration tool developed by Microsoft. It’s basically an intranet and content management system that is used for internal purposes to assist with bringing business together including secure document management, collaboration opportunities and much more.
If the title of the environment is Office 365 and the app is called ‘SharePoint’, you are using ‘SharePoint Online Classic Experience‘. It’s also easy to check your Office 365 subscription.If you are still unsure about your SharePoint version, just click the ‘Help’ button.
Open Central Administration. On the Application Management page, in the Site Collections section, click View all site collections. The Site Collection List page lists all the site collections in the web application.
How to sync SharePoint Libraries to your computer
- In a web browser, go to https://portal.office.com.
- Log in with your Microsoft 365 credentials.
- Click on the ‘SharePoint’ icon.
- Click on the SharePoint site you wish to sync.
- Once you are on your chosen site, click on the ‘Documents’ option from the left-hand site:
OneDrive provides a consistent, intuitive files experience across all your devices, including web, mobile, and the desktop of your Windows PC or Mac. Behind the scenes, SharePoint in Microsoft 365 provides the content services for all files in Microsoft 365, including files you work with in Teams, Yammer, and Outlook.
Open an Office file
- Click the File tab.
- Click Open.
- Under Favorites, click SharePoint Sites.
- Click the SharePoint site where your file is located, and then click Open.
- Click the name of the library that contains the file, such as Shared Documents, and then click Open.

To install SharePoint Server 2019:
- Double click the disc image file to mount it as a drive on your computer.
- Navigate to the mounted drive.
- Run splash.
- Click Install software prerequisites to launch the Microsoft SharePoint 2019 Products Preparation Tool.
An easy check for SharePoint Online or on premises would be to look at the host name. In the case of SharePoint Online, it will always be in the form of tenant.sharepoint.com .
Use the Help (“?”) menu in SharePoint to identify your version:
- Open SharePoint in your browser.
- Near the upper-right corner of that window, select ?
- If a menu opens, select Help. A Help pane opens.
- Look at the title of the article. If you’re using SharePoint Server, the version number is stated:
Go to https://admin.microsoft.com in your web browser to open the Office 365 admin center. Then in the navigation pane or in the list of all admin centers, click SharePoint to open a SharePoint admin center.
Authenticated users without Microsoft accounts
It is possible to share content with anyone who has an email address even though if it is not a Microsoft Account. In this case, a one-time access code for authentication is sent to them each time they access the file or folder.
See your SharePoint or Microsoft Teams files in the OneDrive mobile app
- In the OneDrive app when signed in with your work or school account, select Libraries.
- Select the name of the site and then the library where the files are located.
Open Finder, click Go and click ‘Connect to Server’.
- Enter ‘http://sharepoint.yourcompany.com/Shared Documents’, click the ‘+’ (plus sign) to add the Sharepoint connection to favourite servers and click Connect.
- You will be prompted to authenticate yourself.
Integrations. Since SharePoint is part of the Microsoft family, it integrates well with other Microsoft products. “Many organisations already use Microsoft Office, which makes adding SharePoint the natural choice over a standalone product like Dropbox.
OneNote is Microsoft’s digital note-taking application. It is available for free on Windows PCs and is also included as part of SharePoint/Office 365 subscription.
Microsoft Teams is the hub for teamwork. It allows for collaboration, chat, calls, meetings, and so much more! SharePoint Online is primarily a document management and intranet platform where you store, collaborate, and share information seamlessly across the organization, and is also part of Microsoft 365.
Follow these steps:
- Click Start, Programs, Microsoft SharePoint 2010 Products, SharePoint 2010 Central Administration. The Central Administration home page appears.
- Click Application Management. The Application Management page appears.
- Click Configure alternate access mappings.
- Click Add Internal URLs.
- Click Save.
How to sync SharePoint with Outlook
- Navigate to the web part you want to sync to Outlook.
- Click on the tab above to open additional commands.
- Click on Connect to Outlook button.
- The pop-up will appear, asking you to confirm the sync. Click Allow.
- Your list will now sync to your Outlook.
