Clear the history and cookies from Safari on your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch
- To clear your history and cookies, go to Settings > Safari, and tap Clear History and Website Data.
- To clear your cookies and keep your history, go to Settings > Safari > Advanced > Website Data, then tap Remove All Website Data.

To clear your history and cookies, tap Settings > Safari > Clear History and Website Data. Clearing your history, cookies, and browsing data from Safari won’t change your AutoFill information.
Select Settings. Under “Privacy settings“, select Clear cache, Clear history, or Clear all cookie data as appropriate, and then OK to accept.
To clear history:
- From the home screen, tap Safari.
- At the bottom of the screen, tap the Bookmarks icon.
- In the lower left, tap Clear.
- Tap Clear History.
Similar to removing all cookies, iPad owners can open Settings and tap on Safari, as shown above. Instead of tapping on “Clear Cookies and Data” like we did earlier, users can tap on the “Advanced” option at the bottom. Then, on the next screen, tap “Website Data” to view all your cookies.
As a general rule, we recommend leaving cookies enabled on your iPad — it makes for a much more convenient browsing experience, and the security and privacy advantages of blocking cookies are quite limited. But if you do want to disable cookies completely, it is easy to do: 1.
Block cookies
To choose whether Safari blocks cookies, tap Settings > Safari, then turn on Block All Cookies. If you block cookies, some web pages might not work. Here are some examples: You might not be able to sign in to a site using your correct username and password.
In the Chrome app
- On your Android phone or tablet, open the Chrome app .
- At the top right, tap More .
- Tap History. Clear browsing data.
- At the top, choose a time range. To delete everything, select All time.
- Next to “Cookies and site data” and “Cached images and files,” check the boxes.
- Tap Clear data.
When you delete cookies from your computer, you erase information saved in your browser, including your account passwords, website preferences, and settings. Deleting your cookies can be helpful if you share your computer or device with other people and don’t want them to see your browsing history.

Although small, cookies do occupy space on your computer. If there are enough of them stored over a long period of time, they could slow down the speed of your computer and other devices. Flagged, suspicious cookies. If your antivirus software flags suspicious cookies, you should delete them.
There are a number of reasons you should consider deleting cookies on your browser: They pose a security threat – As previous cyber attacks have demonstrated, hackers can potentially hijack cookies, gaining access to browser sessions and then steal personal data.

Go to “Site Settings” (this appears right above the “clear browsing data” link). Under “Permissions” the first item on the list is “Cookies”. Click on that and toggle ON the button that will let you “keep local data only until you quit your browser”.
What is taking up space on my iPad?
Go to Settings > General > [Device] Storage. You might see a list of recommendations for optimizing your device’s storage, followed by a list of installed apps and the amount of storage each one uses. Tap an app’s name for more information about its storage. Cached data and temporary data might not be counted as usage.
Scroll to the bottom of the page and tap ‘Advanced’. Tap ‘Website Data’ to see a list of cookies. Android does not appear to allow users to view individual cookies. You can delete all cookies, or enable/disable them.
