OneDrive for Windows
- Open a file explorer window and navigate to your OneDrive folder.
- Right click the blank space and select “New” > “Folder”.
- Rename the folder to the desired name.
- Right click on the new folder and select “Share”.
- The “Share” dialog box will appear.

Sign into the OneDrive website at https://www.onedrive.com with your work or school account, and then, under Shared libraries in the left pane, select Create shared library.In the Members box, add the names or email addresses of the people you want to include as members of the site.
Create a New Shared Folder
- Navigate to the folder you’d like the new folder to reside under.
- Click + New and select Folder from the drop-down.
- Enter a name for the new folder and click Create.
- Now you’re ready to add content to the folder and assign permissions so other users can access it.
Quick start
- In your OneDrive file view, right-click the file you want to share.
- Choose Share from the pop-up menu.
- Enter the name of the person you want to share with.
- Un-tick the ‘require sign-in’ checkbox.
- Click Share.
All you need to do is right-click the file or folder in your OneDrive folder on your computer, and select Share a OneDrive link. This will copy a link to your clipboard that you can paste into an email, website, blog post, and so forth.
See files shared with you in OneDrive
- Sign in to OneDrive.com with your personal Microsoft account.
- In the left pane, under OneDrive, select Shared. Files or folders shared with you appear under the names of the people who shared them.
- Select a file or folder to open it, just as you would any other item in OneDrive.
Sharing files using basic settings
- Open File Explorer on Windows 10.
- Navigate to the folder you want to share.
- Right-click the item, and select the Properties option.
- Click on the Sharing tab.
- Click the Share button.
- Use the drop-down menu to select the user or group to share a file or folder.
- Click the Add button.
On the OneDrive for Business – Documents page, select next to the file or folder you want to share, and then select SHARE. 2. In the left pane of the Share dialog box, select the Sharing icon associated with the file or folder. The Share dialog box now shows a list of people you’re sharing the file or folder with.
If you cannot share OneDrive files it could be because: You have reached your sharing limits.OneDrive is not running. Your organization has disabled or restricted it.
In Windows Explorer, navigate to the shared location that contains the file, such as a network drive. Right click and drag the file into the body of your email. Shortcut menu displays. Click Create Hyperlink Here.
Send a link to a shared file
- Go to drive.google.com.
- Check the box next to the file or folder you’d like to share.
- Click the Share icon . OR. Click the More menu and select “Share…”
- Copy the link at the top of the sharing settings.
- Send the link to another person or mailing list in an email or chat.
Share files or photos in email
- Select the files or photos you want to share, and then select Share .
- Choose if you want to allow Allow editing.
- Select Email.
- Enter the email addresses of the people you’d like to share with and add an optional message.
- Select Share. Everyone you share with will receive an email.
Right click on the drive that you want to share and select “Give access to” > “Advanced Sharing…”. Enter a name to identify the drive over the network. If you want to be able to both read and write to the drives from your other computers, select “Permissions” and check “Allow” for “Full Control.”
Just follow these steps:
- Press Win + E to open a File Explorer window.
- In Windows 10, choose This PC from the left side of the window.
- In Windows 10, click the Computer tab.
- Click the Map Network Drive button.
- Choose a drive letter.
- Click the Browse button.
- Select a network computer or server and then a shared folder.
Make sure Network discovery is enabled on all computers. Make sure File and printer sharing is enabled on all computers. Toggle Turn on password protected sharing to off and retest. Make sure you are logging in using the same account you entered when you added users to Share with.
How do I create a link to a folder path?
To add a hyperlink to a file or folder:
- Select a topic in Map View or Outline View, or, within the topic notes, select some text or an image.
- Click the Links toolbar button, or choose Insert > Hyperlink.
- Choose File / Folder in the Link To pop-up menu.
- Click Choose, select a file or folder, and then click Open.
