To access the Shared folder, simply open the Finder and select the Go menu, then select Go to folder… (or type command-shift-G). Then type /Users and hit return. You should be staring at the list of user folders on your Mac, with a Shared folder there as well.

How to access shared Macs on your network
- Open a window in the Finder.
- Scroll down the sidebar until you see Shared.
- Select the Mac you’d like to access.
- If Guest access is allowed, you’ll be able to see shared folders.
- If you are required to log in, you may see a button labeled Connect As….
On a Mac
- In the Finder, select iCloud Drive from the sidebar.
- Select the folder you wish to share.
- Click Share , then choose Add People .
- Select how you want to send the invitation: Mail, Messages, Copy Link, or Airdrop, for example.
- To edit who can access the folder and the permissions, click Share Options.
Open Windows File Explorer, go to the Folders pane, and select Network. Select the computer that has the shared folders you want to browse. In older versions of Windows, open Entire Network and select Microsoft Windows Network to see shares.
The “Shared Folders” feature allows other users to securely copy digital files from your computer’s hard drive. Remove the shared folders if you no longer want to offer the files for other computers. Clear the shared folders as soon as they are transferred to the other computer to ensure other users cannot access them.
To see the files that others have shared with you:
- Open Word, Excel, or PowerPoint. If you already have a document or workbook open, select File.
- Scroll down and select the Shared with Me tab, or select Open > Shared with Me.
Make sure Network discovery is enabled on all computers. Make sure File and printer sharing is enabled on all computers. Toggle Turn on password protected sharing to off and retest. Make sure you are logging in using the same account you entered when you added users to Share with.
You can put the shortcut inside your “My Drive” or any Drive that’s shared with you.
- On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Drive app .
- On the bottom, tap Shared .
- Select the files or folders you want to add.
- Tap More.
- Select the location where you want to place the shortcut.
- Tap Add.
Add members and set access levels:
- On your computer, go to drive.google.com.
- At the left, click Shared drives and double-click one of your shared drives.
- At the top, click Manage members.
- Add names, email addresses, or a Google Group. New members must have a Google account.
- To change:
- Click Send.
Click the “Share” tab at the top of File Explorer if you want to share additional folders with the other computer. Select the folder you want to share, and then click “Homegroup (View and Edit)” on the ribbon to give the other computer full access to the folder.
See files shared with you in OneDrive
- Sign in to OneDrive.com with your personal Microsoft account.
- In the left pane, under OneDrive, select Shared. Files or folders shared with you appear under the names of the people who shared them.
- Select a file or folder to open it, just as you would any other item in OneDrive.
Shared network locations Save files in a folder that your recipients can also access. You can then send recipients a message containing a link to the shared location.
To resolve the issue, go to Control Panel > Network and Internet > Network and Sharing Center > Advanced Sharing Settings. Make sure your settings are as follows: Network Discovery: ON; Network Settings: Private; File Sharing: ON; Public Folder Sharing: ON; Password Protected Sharing: OFF.
