Inserts are installed into arrows to help secure points to the shaft. Not all arrows require inserts and not all points are compatible with each insert.

What are bow inserts?

Riser Inserts are used for mounting many bow accessories to your bow. Bow quivers, stabilizers, bowfishing reels, or bow sights to name a few. Limb bolts are used with takedown recurves and longbows for mounting the limbs to the riser securely for shooting.

Can you take arrow inserts out?

Remove the arrow and insert from the water, then, using a pair of pliers on the insert, gently remove it. There will most likely be adhesive residue remaining on the insert. To remove this residue from an insert or point, hold it with a pair of pliers over a flame until the adhesive melts off or dissipates.
